Currently, there is some information missing. This includes: participatory processes for the design and execution of the social investment programs or projects in rural environments. Within the framework of the Resources Map for Rural Development, we offer to share the valuable information each person has.
Our objective is to combine different resources (funds, skills, experiences, knowledge, material, and services) that can be found in different sectors of our society (social organizations, communities, public institutions, businesses, government officials, etc.) in order to find solutions to problems that small rural towns, inhabitants, and communities. This is done to improve living conditions, to take care of the environment, and to generate sustainable development processes.
We want to encourage a space where the different points of view on development can meet, not imposing one over the other, but respecting and acting upon the positive aspects of each. We invite everyone involved in rural development to participate, so that together we can build on and enrich the Resources Map for Rural Development.
We believe this project will help provide knowledge with the actual socio-environmental situation in each province as well as recognizing both the negatives, the challenges and problems, and the positives, the resources and existing opportunities. The Rural Communities Network fulfilled the role of compiler and organizer by designing and promoting this tool, used for collective construction and used for free. Since the beginning, the focus was put into creating an initiative thought out by and for everyone: we meet in regional workshops where we exchange experiences, knowledge, and suggestions so the Resources Map can achieve its objective.
